Serious employment issue

At a time when I desperately needed help with a serious employment problem, I turned to Becky Tee for help. She provided invaluable practical help to deal with the crisis as well as expertise and wisdom to enable me to see beyond the immediate problems and to understand the big picture. Hello, I only just found you book in my local library. Brilliant! Having sought help from various sources I always felt short changed - never had much faith in the information given and was always left feeling frustrated. Your book has changed that, it answers every single question re searching for a job through to application forms that I needed answering. I can tailor your book to suit my own situation as opposed to the 'one size fits all' approach I hove come across so far. Thank you!

Dear Rebecca I just wanted to update you on the responses I have recieved after following your advice in your book "Preparing the Perfect CV". I work as an estimator in the construction industry and I was laid off in July this year when my employer was downsizing their estimating department. It turns out that as the "last in" I would be the "first out", but it was a complete shock to me to lose a job I had given so much to. At first I thought there would be nothing I could do, as my role was quite specialised, and that I would have to retrain or take a lower paid job in a different sector. Then I got a copy of your book and followed your advice. It made me realise that I did have a lot of skills, mostly learned through experience, that I had not considered as important. By concentrating on these, and by adapting one of the model CVs that you suggested in your book, I produced a CV that positively emphasised the skills and experience that I have. I used the CV to reply to a job advert that seemed to match my experience and got an instant response from the company. Within two days I was at an interview and within a week I had a job offer. At the same time I sent the CV, along with a speculative cover letter (again following your book's guidance, being bold and very positive about my experience which had previously seemed so ordinary to me) to 20 companies within the industry. I received four requests for interviews. To cut a long story short, I was offered three jobs and I am now about to start work at one of these. The salary is over £3,000 more than I was earning before I was laid off and I now have a job description which matches the skills I set out in my CV. Result! I have no doubt that if I had not followed your advice I would have sent out my previous, and rather apologetic CV and cover letter that would not have got me to the front of the pile and proved so succesful. I just wanted to let you know that your advice has proved 100% effective and that the book was the best investment I could have made. Many, many thanks.

Interview Prep

Rebecca helped me prepare for an application (successful), an interview (successful) and a follow up interview (successful). Without her I don't think I would have got the job. Rebecca had me think about exactly what image I needed to convey and every answer I gave was geared towards building/reinforcing this image.
